One of the really dull parts of running a business is keeping up with the accounting. Most of us who have been in business procrastinate when it comes to making all those data entries to keep our accounting up to date. But unless you have a bookkeeper or assistant to do it for you should discipline yourself to get it done. The reports that we generate are scorecards for our business. They tell us how we have done in this accounting period vs. another period. They help us understand where the money comes from and where it goes. If the ship has a leak, it tells us where and how to plug it. Set aside a specific time a day of the week to do the data entry, it will become part of your routine and you will be better off for it.
