D.I.Y. Business Start-up

As an entrepreneur you are generally self-sufficient, and you tend to think that you can do anything yourself. For the most part this is true and given a lack of cash flow and limited resources you do need to be able to do most things yourself. But here are two things that I would suggest that you pay to have done. First, payrolls for regular employees. It is not just calculating hours and wages and writing a check, it is all the state and federal tax reporting that needs to be done. There are a lot of payroll services available, check with your bank to see if they have one. The payroll service takes on the responsibility for getting people paid the way the employee prefers, reporting to all governmental agencies in a timely manner, and accepting any penalties if it is not done correctly. Second, when it comes time to file the annual income tax reports, hire a Certified Public Accountant to do it for you. They will save you time, money, and worry. It is worth every dollar it costs.
